Next swap coastal scenery for rivers and forest at Sibuya Forest camp and experience diverse wildlife, from elephants to otters. Spend a final night at Addo Elephant National Park, taking a game drive to spot the ‘Big 5’, before returning to Port Elizabeth and your onward flight.

Day 1-3: Sunset over the city

Cape Town

On arrival in Cape Town, collect your sedan hire vehicle and drive into town.

This luxurious 5 Star Boutique Hotel boasts a beautiful position nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, situated in 4ha of hillside in the suburb of Camps Bay.

Enjoy two full days in Cape Town during which you will have time to experience some of the many varied sights of this area.

Cape Point nature reserve is a beautiful area to visit, with Boulders Beach penguin colony en-route, this area is the World’s smallest floral kingdom and boasts the unique fynbos vegetation.

Day 4-5: History and culture

Cederberg Mountains

After three nights discovering the charm & beauty of Cape Town you will begin the self-drive leg of your holiday.

Bushmans Kloof is a beautiful wilderness reserve in the heart of the Cederberg Mountains in the Western Cape. The reserve is rich in Bushman rock art with over 130 pristine sites, some dating as far back as 10,000 years ago making them one of the oldest recorded examples of human art.

Visitors may join daily-guided walks with experienced rangers along rivers and through the veld to view a selection of the sites.

View the expansive environment and game with daily nature drives through the reserve including: Gemsbok, Bontebok, Cape Mountain Zebra, Eland, Red Hartebeest, Black Wildebeest, Vaal Rhebok, Klipspringer, Kudu, Springbok, Steenbok and Brown Hyena, to name a few. Bushmans Kloof is home to 35 species of mammals, and 150 different species of bird such as the Malachite Kingfisher, African fish eagle and Black Harrier.

The late afternoon nature drives include complimentary snacks and sundowners in the reserve. Night drives are offered after dinner to guests who wish to view the reserves several nocturnal species and the awe-inspiring night skies. All meals & activities included.

Day 6-7: Wilderness and wildlife

Tulbagh Valley

Nestled in the beautiful Tulbagh valley, this exquisite five star country house is situated on the eminent Rijk’s Wine farm, and just five minutes from the centre of Tulbagh.

High trees and an abundance of Iceberg roses welcome you onto the Estate from where you can see hills of vineyards set against the Obiqua and Winterhoek Mountains.

Restored Cape Dutch style buildings are the frame-work within which you will experience classic furnishings and a warm and relaxed ambience.

International and traditional cuisine coupled with impeccable service can be enjoyed in the hotel’s intimate restaurant, Que Sera, or at a high table in the private dining area, Mon Ami. Alternatively, the outside Iceberg terrace is the perfect place to relax.

Picnic on the banks of the river or enjoy a walk through the vineyards and rose gardens.

Day 8: Picturesque vineyards and coastal hamlets

Pringle Bay

Pringle Bay is a tranquil coastal hamlet situated between nestled snugly between the Klein and Groot Hangklip Mountains.

Moonstruck on Pringle Bay is a contemporary beach house retreat set in a fynbos greenbelt 100 metres from a pristine beach in a World Heritage Site.

Awaken to the call of the Oyster Catchers, jog with the Sand Pipers, sneak up on the shy Cape Clawless Otter, and then return to a scrumptious breakfast served on the deck overlooking one of nature’s true wonders. Day 9-10: Coastal vistas

Knysna

Perched in a prime position on the spectacular Knynsa Heads with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, The Alexander takes style, ambience and personal service to new heights.

Each of the six suites and rooms has been individually created using lavish furnishings, decorations and objects d’art to provide guests with a uniquely sensual environment for relaxation and recreation. Knysna is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s prettiest little town.

Set on the banks of the famous lagoon, the settlement is protected by the ‘Knysna Heads’; two towering columns of rock. There are numerous activities that complement the natural beauty of the area, including tree-top, canopy tours, the renowned steam railway the crosses the lagoon, oyster boat cruises, and forest visits to see the rare Knysna elephants. Day 11-12: Forests and rivers

Sibuya Camp

From the reception point in Kenton-on-Sea, you will be transferred up river to the lodge itself. The unique experience starts immediately with a half-hour boat transfer to River or Forest Camp. Turtles, dolphins and whales might be seen near the river mouth.

Sibuya has more navigable river than any other game reserve in South Africa. The birdlife is consequently prolific: there are nearly 400 different species. The breathtakingly beautiful reserve is sanctuary to an abundance of diverse wildlife from elephants to otters, and almost everything in between, including the Big Five. Sibuya offers luxury tented accommodation in the Eastern Cape and prides itself on superb cuisine.

The most popular activities on Sibuya are the game drives and walks, but many guests also take advantage of the opportunity to try their hand at fishing from the camp jetties.

Canoes at the camps are regularly used by guests, keen paddlers and novices alike. Birding and game viewing on horseback is a wonderful way to experience nature at close quarters. Birdsong provides the perfect background sound while enjoying a massage on the deck of one of our luxurious tents.

Excursions off the reserve can also be arranged for activities such as golf, horse-riding (on the beach), deep-sea fishing or historical tours of the area. All meals & activities included.

Day 13-14: Incredible wildlife

Addo Elephant Park

Anchored on endless horizons and flanked by the Zuurberg Mountains, RiverBend Lodge is situated a mere 45 minutes from Port Elizabeth, within a 14 000 ha private concession area of the Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province.

Watch herds of Elephants feeding a short distance away, listen to the songs of some 300 bird species, enjoy a personalized game drive into the mountains and discover varying vegetation from thick forested valleys to open savannah plains to hillsides rich in Fynbos.
Private Game drives are conducted inside the Addo Elephant National Park or in our 5000 ha Private Intsomi Reserve.

The drive today is short and straight forward, and should take no more than 1h30, the airport being signposted from the centre of town. You will drop off your hire car at the airport, and continue on your journey (own arrangements).
