Life moves at a leisurely pace when among the riverside channels,floodplains, woodland and wetlands of the Caprivi and that is exactly what this trip is designed to do. This tranquil adventure focuses on the Caprivi Strip, allowing travellers to acquaint themselves with the region thoroughly.

This viridescent area is not only renowned for its large game such as elephants, hippos, wildebeest and antelope but also, almost 70% of bird species found in Namibia have been recorded here. You will be driving through and staying in various different nature reserves such as Mudumu, Bwabwata, Nkasa Lupala and Chobe National Park, this promises magnificent game sightings!

After arriving in Windhoek you will be transferred to Eros Airport in time to catch your flight up North. Your journey will truly start in Rundu, where you will pick up your car rental and spend your first night lulled to sleep by the Kavango River at Hakusembe Lodge.

On your next day, continue along the Kavango River to the lush river retreat which is Riverdance Lodge. After spending three nights here, you will depart for Kazile Lodge – an exclusive retreat only reached by boat within the Bwabwata Park.

Your journey will then continue to Jackalberry Camp which is located on the Linyati River Lagoon, encased in a wetland paradise.The last leg of this trip will be spent in Botswana at the luxury Eco retreat, Bakwena Lodge before departing from Kasane Airport.

Day 1: Acclimatize up North

Rundu, Hakusembe River Lodge

Perfectly positioned on the southern bank of the Okavango River, Hakusembe River Lodge radiates peace. A lush river oasis, it lies 16km from the bustle of Rundu. The thatched chalets provide ideal retreats and the verdant garden is a paradise to relish.

Entering Hakusembe River Lodge at the end of the winding gravel track, you are greeted with a refreshing image of green lawns, large trees, a collection of thatched chalets and a strip of sparkling river. Instantaneously the fresh balm of beauty soothes your weary soul. You have reached the verdant Hakusembe river oasis. A feeling of calm descends. River birds fly up between the reeds, people row their dugout canoes on the river and soft muted sounds float over the waters from the villages on the far bank. Day 2-4: Take a breather beside the Kavango

Divundu, Riverdance Lodge

RiverDance is located on the banks of the mighty Okavango River in the North East of Namibia. Directly across the river and a mere 100 meters away lies Angola. RiverDance is owner managed and is fortunately unaffected by seasonal flooding. Exclusivity and privacy is guaranteed. A wrap-around deck leads to the waterside where morning and afternoon teas can be enjoyed.

Day 5-7: Drifting down the Kwando

Bwabwata National Park, Kazile Island Lodge

Kazile Island Lodge, together with its sister camp Nambwa Tented Lodge, are the only lodges to be uniquely situated within the Bwabwata National Park. Kazile offers ten Meru tents nestled within a Mangosteen forest, overlooking the Kwando River and the expansive floodplains. Kazile Island is a special paradise that can only be reached by boat. Here, herds of buffalo and elephant traverse the wet Zambezi landscape.

The Meru style tents at Kazile Island Lodge are built on wooden platforms overlooking the beautiful Kwando River and the floodplains beyond.  Each tent has its’ own en-suite bathroom with shower, single hand basin and toilet.
