Martin was born in the tourism capital of Southern Africa, Victoria Falls, and first came to Namibia as a university student in 1999. Here he started working for the Big Five Arts and Crafts Shop where he discovered a love for meeting people from different countries and cultures.
After a stint at Europcar, assisting clients travelling around the country, Martin joined the team at ATI Holidays at the beginning of 2014. Martin is one of the first faces that the ATI guests see upon arrival into Namibia; he and his trusty steed ‘Harry’ (the Land Rover Discovery) ensure that all clients arrive at their first night’s accommodation well rested and refreshed.
What is your favourite holiday destination: My favourite holiday destination, although it sounds lousy, is still the Smoke that Thunders (Victoria Falls).
What is your ‘must have’ travel item: Whenever I travel I always make sure that I have a box of matches, to scare the lions away.
If you were a super-hero what would your name and superpower be: My name would be Visions, the gift of invisibility. The possibility to sneak everywhere I dreamt of, in the Pentagon for instance, the White House…
What is your favourite book and/or movie: I love comedy; Mr Bean, The Gods Must be Crazy etc.
A quote to live by: Leaders don’t create followers but they create more leaders.
What meal could you eat everyday: Braai vleis and roasted bread.
Tell us something about you that not everyone knows: I don’t only put on my tie when I’m inside Harry, the Cheese machine (David’s 23 year old pick-up truck) gets the same treatment.
