Opuwo means “finished” or “up to here and no further” Opuwo is the gateway to Kaokoland, the small town is the administrative hub of the Kunene Region. It has a few shops, filling station, a school and houses. Although the lodge is accessible by normal 2×4 sedan vehicle there is also a gravel airfield in town from where the lodge will collect guests staying over. The Airfield Co-ordinates are 18° 2′ 40.2″ Latitude 13° 49′ 59.9″ Longitude. Opuwo Country Lodge is situated on a hilltop just outside of town and provides luxury and standard accommodation with air conditioning, swimming pool, bar and restaurant, and camping sites, it’s the ideal base from where to explore Kaokoland. The lodge is within easy reach of Kaoko-Otavi, Epupa Falls and Swartbooisdrift. Road conditions between Kamanjab and Opuwo are in excellent condition (tarmac). The remaining 85km gravel road to Ruacana is also in an excellent condition.The 28 luxury rooms consist of 21 Twins, 1 luxury double room and 3 sets of inter-leading twin rooms (6 rooms) and 12 standard twin rooms. All the rooms have air conditioning and en-suit shower, toilet with complimentary amenities. Deck chairs and umbrellas set the scene for a relaxed day around the pool or cool off after a hard day’s drive. Next to the pool is the Bar and Restaurant where guests can crack a cold one and enjoy mouth-watering meals.
